9 months, 10 months, the 100th percentile and screaming with Santa!

I am not really sure why but Ethan has always been fascinated with mowing the lawn. All summer I could set him in his stroller and he would just sit and stare at me while I mowed. Later in the fall he started riding along with me on hte riding lawnmower as I picked up leaves. Never made a peep, he absolutely loved it.

Ethan had a fun first Halloween. He didnt get out and trick our treat but did wear his sweet gnome costume to the neighborhood party. I think is favorite part of Halloween was trying to capture and eat the taco dog...

Ethan is now 10 months old. It is amazing how fast time is flying by. He is an amazing "little" guy. At his 9 month appointment he was 30.75 inches long and weighed 24 lbs and 15 ozs. This put him in the 100th adn 99th percentile. He is generally just a very big little guy.

Ethan is getting so close to walking. He walks all around the house pushing his little CAT tractor. You could see the pure joy on his face the first few times he did it, he looked like he had just unlocked the greatest mystery in the world. He was very proud of himself. He has taken a couple steps on his own but nothing consistent. I think he will be walking fairly soon.

Until last week Ethan's vocabulary consisted of happy screech, mad screech and oooo's and aaaaa's. We were starting to worry about the lack of dada, baba, gaga, etc. Then all of the sudden he started babbling away. It is absolutely adorable to hear him ramble off a ton of sounds, its the cutest jibberish ever.

After a few months of struggles we finally got Ethan to sleep through the night "most" of the time. We had been giving him bottles and rocking him at night and just sort of waiting for him to sleep through the night, he would do it every now and then but not consistently. Eventually we had to devote one night to convincing him that he had to go to sleep on his own. It didnt take that long and worked pretty good.

Ethan had his first visit with Santa and wasnt very impressed. I was impressed that Santa, Mrs. Clause and Isabelle managed to hold a smile during the screaming fit!

almost 8 months old

Ethan will turn 8 months old next week. He is still a very big boy but now that he is getting around a little more I think he will start to thin out a bit. He is now crawling all over the place and his favorite activity is standing up. He loves to stand up againts the couch, ottoman or the new play table that he got this week. Occasionally you can see him stand up on his own for a quick second but he does fall down alot. He is very determined and I expect that he will walking before too long. He has had a few very difficult weeks of teething. He is getting 6 teeth on the top all at the same time! As you can imagine this has created some significant discomfort for all of us. When his teeth arent bothering him he is a very fun and happy kiddo.

It has been a pretty busy fall. Ethan had his first trip to an apple orchard, his first GRE family day and his first trip up north which included his first barn dance. As you can see in the picture below the barn dance didnt really hold his attention as he crashed in his stroller for most of the event.

2 months have gone by...

I cant believe it has been 2 months since I have posted any pictures. Things have been really busy around here. Ethan is now six months old. In July Ethan had surgery to correct a slightly underdeveloped urethra. It wasnt major surgery but it felt pretty major to us. We were in and out of the Childrens Surgical center in just a few hours but we struggled through 2 pretty crazy days and nights and did double diapers and lots of vaseline for a few weeks. The really good news is that everything appears to have been successsfull.

In general Ethan is a pretty happy and smiley kid. He loves to smile and giggle, full on belly laughs dont happen too often but you can tell that he is having fun. He is developing his own little personality and love it. He is a very curious little guy and I have a feeling that he will be that 2 year old that gets into everything. He occasionally sleeps through the night but it isnt a regular occurence. He is eating solid foods now and we hope that increasing the amount of cereal will eventually fill him up enough to get through the night.

We are getting out and about a lot more wtih Ethan than we did with Isabelle. I'm not sure if it just because he is our second kid or because his general attitiude is pretty good (probably both). Last week we went to Biaggi's (one of our favorite restaurants) and Ethan quickly determined that the table was is favorite dish.

At his 6 month appointment Ethan was in the 97th percentile for length, weight and head size. He is 28 1/4 inches long and weighs 21.5 pounds. He isnt the biggest 6 month old in the world, but he is fairly close.

4 Months!

Ethan is already 4 months old! At his 4 month appoitnment he was 26.5 inches long and weighed 18lbs and 15.5 ounces. He is a very big boy, he was in the 93rd perfcentile for lengtha nd 96th for weight.

Ethan had been struggling with some hearburn and maybe early teeth. We recently switched heartburn medications and he seems to be a much happier little guy. Still no signs of teeth and we are starting to think that he is just a very aggressive chewer and drooler. This little guy can go thru 4 bibs a day, they all end up soaking wet.

We started solid foods last week and after a few attempts he seems to be getting the hang of it. He mostly eats rice cereal but we added pears last week and started carrots this weekend.

We finally got Ethan to show us a full on belly laugh. Mom was trying to keep him occupied and kicked a birthday balloon that was in the living room. He thought it was hillarious and laughed and laughed everytime we kicked it. Well at least the first 100 times, it got old for hime before it got old for us. Isabelle also had him laughing by jumping and splashing in his little pool.

Ethan is at his calmest when hes outside. I dont know if he likes the temperature, the change of scenery or what, but he likes being outside.

still no teeth.

Ethan has been working on some teeth for what feels like a month but has really probably only been two weeks. Gina brought him in to the doctor yesterday to make sure nothing else was going on. The doctor said that he is probably just teething and has a little "colic"...after what we went through with Isabelle I can tell you that this would be a different kind of colic. He is a little grumpy at times but nothgin like his big sister; mostly he just drools alot and sometimes seems like his mouth is pretty sore.

A few weeks ago we were worried that Ethan would need a helmet because he had a pretty big flat spot on the back of his head. Thankfully I think he has now worked is way out of that problem. He loves tummy time, his bubmbo, his bouncey chairs and his height chair so he is spending plenty of time not smushing the back of his head.

This weekend we put hte bassinet away for good. This was a big step that at one time felt impossible. He really liked his comfy bassinet but he is now sleeping in his crib everynight. He still naps in his swing sometimes but all together he is using his crib most of the time.

Things are moving quickly now

Ethan seems to be growing up incredibly quickly. Hes just a little over 3 months old but is approaching 20 pounds and has already started teething. He is just starting to spend more time in his big bouncy gym. He loves playing on his playmat. He has already rolled over from his tummy to his back and from his back to his tummy.

We just cant take enough cute pictures of this little guy in his bumbo chair!

Ethan's hands are starting to work really well. He is getting much better at controling his hands, arms and feet. He really likes grabbing on to his morraca and shaking it up. He also recently found his feet...now he likes to grab them.

We brought out the height chair for cousin Natalie to use at Isabelle's birthday party. I was surporised to see that our big little guy fit in it pretty well.

Ethan got a new stuffed bear from Nana over the weekend. I think he really likes it. After a little time snuggling wioth the bear he decided it was time to eat it! Poor guy has some teeth that are really bother him, apparently eating things makes his teeth feel better...

We are all caught up!

Today Ethan is just over 3 months old and it is hard to believe how much he has grown and changed in just 3 short months. He is sitting up in his bumbo chair, doing really well at tummy time and talking in gooos and cooos a little bit more every day. He has a serious and intense personality and times but is also statting to show more giggles and smiles. I am very excited to see what the next 3 months will bring.

Ethan recently enjoyed his first bonfire. After being couped up inside for his entire life I think he just really enjoyed the chance to get outside.

Here is a picture of Ethan today!

Easter and a 3 month birthday (5-18-2014)!

Ethan celebrated his very first Holiday...Easter. It was his second time meeting Great Grandpa Jerry and they got along pretty good this time as well.

Ethan celebrated his 3 month birthday on May 18, 2014. He didnt have a 3 month appointment but he is around 16 pounds and continues to be a pretty happy little fella. He is smiling and interacting with us more and more which makes me very excited for what is to come.

Month #2- 4/18/2014

Thankfully we didnt have anything too exciting to deal with in Ethan's second monht. For the most part he has been a pretty good and happy little guy. He started to show some signs of general fussiness and Mom and I got a littl concerned that we may be in for a repeat of the colic that we dealt with during his sisters first several months. We got him into the chiropractor and also got him on some medicine for reflux and he seems to be handling things very well.

At his two month appointment Ethan was 24.5 inches long and weighed 14 pounds and 9 ounces. He is a very big guy for his age and is also quite long. He was in the 97th percentile for weight and 94th percentile for length. Needless to say, eating enough has not been an issue for a while.
